Recently I had a newborn photoshoot in my studio in Amsterdam with a lovely family and their baby. These sessions are always very personal to me, because every family comes with their own story and those very first days with their newborn.
This baby was just a few days old when they came in for their newborn photoshoot. As always, we kept everything calm and relaxed. In my studio, I don’t rush I follow the baby’s rhythm. We take breaks when needed, and there is always time for feeding, cuddles, and simply settling in.
To create a peaceful atmosphere, I use soft white noise during the session. It helps calm the baby and makes the whole experience more relaxed for both the newborn and the parents.
 

During the session, I also gently used the womb position a natural pose that newborns are familiar with. It helps them feel safe, secure, and comfortable, just like before they were born.
As a newborn photographer in Amsterdam, I focus on natural newborn photography soft light, neutral tones, and a clean, timeless style. My studio is simple and warm, without distractions, so the attention stays on the baby and the connection within the family.
During this baby photoshoot, the most beautiful moments were the simplest ones. The parents holding their newborn, looking at him, adjusting his blanket, all those small, natural movements became meaningful images.
We also included a few family photos, which I always recommend. A newborn photoshoot is not only about the baby, but also about this new chapter for the whole family. Those first days go by so quickly, and it’s important to capture them together.
 

Every newborn photoshoot is different. Some babies sleep through the whole session, others need more closeness. This little one preferred to stay close to the parents, which made the session feel very intimate and real.
That’s what I aim for in every session a relaxed photoshoot, natural photos, and a calm experience for the family.
